Hamsa Yoga is one of the five Pancha MahaPurusha yogas. It occurs when Jupiter meets 2 conditions

  1. It occupies its own signs of Sagittarius or Pisces or its exaltation sign of Cancer
  2. It is in a Kendra from Lagna

How common is Hamsa Yoga

The probability of the 1st rule is 3/12. And that of the 2nd is 4/12. So the combined probability comes to 1/12. So one in twelve people will have this yoga…about 8%. I would rate this a common yoga.

It would be at its most powerful when it happens in Kataka Lagna, with Jupiter placed there. The chances of this would be in 144.

Famous people with Hamsa Yoga

VP Singh, the Raja of Munda and former Prime Minister of India had a very strong Hamsa Yoga. Jupiter was exalted in Lagna, the chances of which is 1 out of 144.

Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, the Maharaja of Mysore,  also has Jupiter exalted in Lagna. He was one of the richest men in the world and the kingdom of Mysore was considered the best administered in the world during the 40 years of his reign.

George VI, had Jupiter exalted in the 10th house. As the King of the British Empire and victorious in World War II, he ranks as one of the “big” kings of the 20th century. He also had two other Mahapurusha yogas – Malavya Yoga and Sasa Yoga, both occurring in Lagna, which made him a monarch all of a sudden.
